Bite Splints

A bite splint can be helpful when treating issues like TMD or bruxism. Bite splints are similar to mouthguards and are often worn at night. Our job is to make your bite splint comfortable and effective.

What is TMD?

TMD stands for temporomandibular disorders. Your temporomandibular joint, or TMJ, is your jaw joint that allows you to open and close your mouth. Symptoms of TMD include:

  • Tenderness or clicking in the jaw
  • Headaches or earaches
  • Facial pain
  • Stiffness in the jaw
  • Difficulty chewing

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please let us know. We can help treat your TMD and set you on the path to healing.

What is Bruxism?

If you grind your teeth at night, you have a medical condition known as bruxism. Some people may not even know they grind their teeth. Be on the lookout for these symptoms:

  • Pain in the ear or jaw
  • Unexplained mouth or facial pain
  • Increased tooth sensitivity
  • Toothache
  • Teeth that are worn or cracked

Grinding your teeth at night can lead to early wear and tear. Your teeth may start to look shorter because you are actually grinding down the bone material. Fortunately, a bite splint can help.
